The Good Market Organic Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) was started in 2013 by producers and consumers that want to make organic more accessible and affordable in Sri Lanka. PGS is an organic verification system that is well-suited to local markets and short supply farms. Producers and consumers volunteer their time to develop and maintain standards and systems, inspect farms, and ensure that products are organic. The Good Market Organic PGS is based on the organic standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). In 2016, it officially became an IFOAM recognized PGS. The Organic PGS is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit initiative. It has been incubated under the Lanka Good Market (Gte) Ltd
